Does 14k Gold Filled Tarnish?Gold filled is a pressure bonded layer of gold that has 100 times more gold than plated jewelry. It is durable, won't chip or flake, is tarnish resistant, and is a great alternative to solid gold jewelry, at a much more reasonable price. It looks beautiful, and has a finish that will last years if cared for properly. All fine metals will tarnish with time. Gold Filled has 100x more gold alloy than Gold Plated and because this layer of gold is much thicker it means that 14k Gold Filled jewelry last longer and doesn't tarnish easily. However, in rare instances of extreme sulfide exposure, it can blacken.

Can I shower with gold-filled jewelry? You are fine to shower in gold-filled jewelry, get it wet, wear it for life! We do recommend you remove it in salt water or chlorine. Wearing it while using basic lotions is fine, but remove it when putting on anything strong- retinol, peels, glycolic acid etc.

What material do you use for your jewelry? All of our ready-to-wear jewelry is made 18k Gold PVD Plated. They are waterproof, hypoallergenic, tarnish resistant, sweat and regular wear resistant compared with standard gold plating.
-
What is Gold PVD Plated? All of our jewelry are made from stainless steel with 18K gold plate. The stainless steel pieces go through a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating process which is a new modern way of plating which means the gold doesn't fade or tarnish. It is 10 times thicker than standard gold plating so is incredibly durable! Stainless Steel has many benefits, it is a very hard metal, it is waterproof, sweat proof, tarnish resistant, and hypoallergenic! You can leave your items on all the time without worrying about tarnishing or turning green. PVD utilizes a titanium nitride that provides an extremely durable coating. PVD coatings are more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear than gold plating. It's a great choice for people who never take their jewelry off, as it is extremely vibrant and durable for years.

How do I clean and care for my jewelry?Clean your jewelry by wiping down each piece after every wear. Be as gentle as possible. Do not use a polishing cloth as its subtle texture may scratch the plating off. Instead use a cotton ball and very lightly wipe down your jewelry. You may use a very soft non abrasive cloth. Do not leave soaked in water, any harsh chemicals or use any polishing material. Your plated jewelry is waterproof, tarnish resistant, sweat/ regular wear resistant and will last for years and years if cared for correctly as per this care guide. If not cared for correctly, like any metal it will tarnish or dull in color over time. This jewelry can chemically only change color when it comes into contact with another substance - it is not possible for it to change color solely by oxidation. You can wear your jewelry in the water or with tan, etc... and it will not tarnish immediately. However, to look after and prolong the life and shine of your jewelry we do recommend that you do not: wear with tan, spray perfume directly onto it, avoid sweating or physical activities, avoid bathing or swimming with the necklace on etc. Everyday products like creams, tans, make up, sun tan lotion, body oils, hairspray, deodorant, antibacterial soap, etc... contain harsh chemicals which can destroy the plating. If your jewelry does comes into contact with any of the above, after each wear please make sure you dry it, clean it gently with warm soapy water and gently wipe dry with a soft cloth after each wear. Do not leave any substance on your jewelry as it will react, cause damage and discolor. When washing your hands with harsh chemicals or using hand sanitizer we recommend you remove any rings as antibacterial soaps contain very harsh chemicals that can destroy the plating.
